Abstract

In this paper I will demonstrate the impossibility of separating animist, institutional and global scenarios in the understanding of identity configurations in indigenous communities. For this task, first, I will identify the shared characteristics of the animistic practices. Second, I will analyse how State logic in articulation with multiculturalism and environmentalism influence the discursive and aesthetic expressions of ethnic groups. Finally, establishing a dialogue between the two previous moments, I will discuss the analytical productivity of considering the symmetry and feedback between the supernatural experiences of interaction and negotiation with non-human entities, and the State and global experiences of coercion and instrumentalization in which build the representation of the ecological native.
